Super Bowl LIII Day Gives Off Some Intereting Views

Mockingbird Station's Angelika  Theater  will soon being showing this years Film Fest Films
Signs on the SB Service Road of US75 North Central Expressway. At the light, turn right into SMU campus. Parking for the library is on the right after turning off the service road. This station serves the Blue, Red, Orange Lines. The Green can be made as a transfer at tne first station after the trains come up from the tunnels. The orange line is the line that goes to  DFW Terminal A

A rare site to see a windsurfer on the water at White Rock Lake. The gentlemen on the board is closer in age to me than any of the boaters or kayaks save a hand full. It's great to see the more mature sports men  like this gentleman. Here, he has a great wind and moving rather fast. He's steering toward the boat ramp and take a plunge right at the ramp. Perfect!! Nice man to talk with, also.
The sun came out briefly. At kick-off time, the cloud deck had returned. Listening to the Pre-Game Show, A  couple of pictures from earlier in the day. The temp hit 71 officially at DFW just before 3 P.M. Originally, the men with the magic ball were calling for 80 F. Clouds messed that up for sure.

Learning The Ropes---Literally

Oh!, that's what that does!
Two identical. One on the east side and one on the west side. Tradition always wins in my book. Mr. President and I were born on the same day.
Nice!
A couple of things around the lake that had nothing to do with it being Veterans Day. However, I did see a fleet of convertibles drive around the rental cabin at The Big Thicket. American flags were waving for them all.

The main topic was the guy at Flag Pole Hill learning the ropes of a par-a-sail-type shoot. He might have had a jump later in the day--or that's how he got to where he was at Flag Pole Hill. Judging from his actions, I'd have to say that he was in the learning process. Don't know this for sure since I didn't get a chance to talk to him. He was pretty preoccupied, don't you see. When the wind stopped, so did he. That's the thing about that sport. Wind is required and doesn't come with the kit!

Meet a very interesting young man that had just moved here from the eastern seaboard. We were talking pictures and I didn't get one! Hopefully, I will run across him again.

The final leg of the trip today was to check out the George Bush Library to see if they had any decorations up. They did. In Bush tradition, it was in good taste. Plain. Simple. Perfect! Also noticed that the new East Campus of SMU that crossed US75 aka NCX or North Central Expressway, behind the George Bush and just north of Mockingbird Station had a new neon Mustang that covered  two of the top floors on the building facing SMU. The SMU logo banner had been there almost since they moved the support offices across making it the beginning of the East Campus. My old friend, Sarah Rincon was in that move, one of the first. There is already a new Aquatics complex that is now open. Somewhere in the files, I have that specific image. I'll look for it and pull it up with colder days setting in for the holidays.

With this being said--- to our veterans past, present and those to come-- Thank You! With out you, we would not be secure in our democracy.

In An Attempt to Discover ...I Discovered.

Saturday was the last of the really hot days but I was out playing catch up on  my  three weeks of Remembrances that I take every year. I had seen the approaching Katy Trail bridge at Mockingbird and made a note that I should follow up before the decking was in place. Saturday was also a very busy traffic day for some reason, too. Finding parking spots has really become a major issue, even for short periods, let alone more than a couple of hours. The problem with the garages is that they are just about as bad and they are never close to where you need them. So, I made a trip down McMillan to McComas to come back toward Mockingbird to see exactly where the Katy crossed NCX and where the bridge ramp actually started its flight over Mockingbird. I knew that it was going to be in the neighborhood of the park south of Mockingbird.

Long story short, I never did find the bridge's genesis. But, I do need to get the shots of the deck from a higher elevation at Mockingbird Station before that deck is laid. In the mean while I was left stunned to find a whole new neighborhood at the park of new homes. This construction thing in the Dallas market is totally mind blowing. Every available lot, piece of  vacant land or 40 acre field is under construction. In Plano, they are eating up 100 acre tracks at a single bite---like Toyota's new North American Head Quarters Campus.  Now, it's a game to see what type of house will be built on the smallest piece of land. And that, is and of itself  an amazing story.

Today, I discovered yet another area where homes have been wiped out by the "we buy ugly homes" campaign and they are finally not putting totally "Ronnie" houses on those lots. Although there are still enough of those being squeezed on a lot as it is for better or for worse.

The bridge over Mockingbird is the third cable-stayed bridge in Dallas in the last 4 years. This one, however is totally for hike and bike use and the joining of two of the main trails in the Metroplex---The Katy Trail and The White Rock Trail.  With those two coming together at Mockingbird Station, all the others are now available in the network.

The joining of the Katy and The White Rock Trails at Mockingbird Station.

There are just south of Mockingbird at NCX  at the SMU main campus and the new East Campus on this side of NCX at the George Bush Presidential Library which is on the main campus of SMU.

This one comes from Richardson across from the Eisemann Center at Galatyn Plaza

April Steps Fell, Weather brought shut-in days. Happy May Day, Too!

Springtime in Texas is mixing up the cold air with the warm moist Gulf air inflow, but it was still, a pretty good month weather, health and...
