Under the High 5

My cardiologist has been after me to do more walking. Today, with near record temperatures on the first full day of winter (it was 81 degrees F) I walked the four mile section of the new Cottonwood Creek Trail. When I sat down to edit both cameras I had over 110 images to edit. Now, I'm back to sitting!

Cottonwood Creek crosses under the entire High 5 interchange. The High 5 was,when started, the largest undertaking by Texas Department of Transportation in their history. Next month, phase 2 begins on the LBJ 635 where the High 5 ended and goes West to Interstate 35. A distance of nearly 11-miles. Don't think the Hight 5 will be the biggest project when that section completes. The High 5 is just that....it rises 120 feet above grade level on the fifth tier. The columns are color coded as to what level or tier you are on. Green is tier 5;pumpkin,4;cream,3....you get the picture....and,oh! here are a few of those pictures.

Old West Work c.1890s

An old working blacksmith shop in the 1890s made, as part of their work, branding irons for ranchers and cattle owners. The brands were fired up and tested by "branding" a wall in the shop. Here is a look at a portion of that wall.

Train Spotters Will Like These Shots

A rare find today. A locomotive for an East Coast Line and one from a California Line. Also, an old town square that nature dressed for fall, and an old set of pumps at an old filling station.

A Lot of Hot Air

Plano,Texas,Sunday,Septermber 19,2010:
The 31st Annual Plano Balloon Festival concluded yesterday with the final flights of about 20 baloon teams. The ReMax Sky Divers parashooted to a perfect landing. There were 41 501 (c) (3) non-profits at the event this year. There were radio stations and a tv station there with tents. A rock climbing wall, events for the kids and the food vendors filled the air with that carnival-like smell of fried corn dogs, funnel cakes,bar-b-que and pizza. Iced tea, lemonaide, energy drinks, crafts, energy demos, balloon rides, cars, political candidates made up another row of tents. The crowds were larger than expected and a warmer than usual mid-September afternoon also was everywhere. Parking has always been a problem. The most efficient way around that was to DART to Parker Road Rail Station and take the free shuttle (about a 10-minute ride). The savings on parking fees paid for the first round of food and drink. Ride the rail next year folks!!

The grounds were posted with signs that photography was occuring on the festival grounds. These are editorial shots anyway but here are a few from the afternoon.

The Dream Is Alive

We have added a more professional flash intro to our site. The search for the right music has been a summer's long search. But, finally, we were able to make a decision on a piece of music that conveys our ambitions and our work to build a site that will have the largest single source of stock images of Dallas/Ft.Worth for your viewing and purchases for your projects.

We hope that you, too, will enjoy the music that we are happy to bring to you. The flash intro has been looped so that you can listen as long as you like or can click on the main page at any time you like. The track runs for 3:03 minutes and really isn't that long even during a busy day. But, it's there if you want to listen a bit longer than the three minutes three

It is our hope that you will find the track one that you look forward to listening to more as you go about your busy day.

4th Annual Dragon Boat Races,Kite & Lantern Festival

The 4th Annual Dragon Boat Races,Kite & Lantern Festival was, without doubt, a success. The grounds were filled with people. Some changes from last year involved moving some areas a bit because of the 2.1 Million Capital Improvements under way at Lake Carolyn. However, completed areas replaced the old ones and it was more just relocating where you sat than anything else. I am anxious for next year already because of the expansion along the canals. All being said,it was a lot of fun! The fire boat was in for repairs so no water cannon this year. AARGH! Miss the fire boat!!

My First Real Live Wild Coyote!

I'm still excited! While out doing stills of real estate this afternoon, I spotted along side the road a wild real Texas Coyote. The animal was beautiful. While I wanted to get out of the car.....I knew better and took these from the curb lane from inside the car. Beautiful animal!

It All Started in the wee hours of May 28th when 80 MPH winds was tossing everything against the side of my house.

Those winds were substained for well over 40 minutes. The results were trees everywhere down or large branches broken off. One of my bus ro...
